Last weekend we quickly looked for a house, knowing our closing date was... uh... closing in on us... :-) The buyer originally wanted to move in at the end of October but fortunately it takes mortgage companies about 30 days to process loans so we were able to move it out to the 12th of November.
We looked at 3 houses... The first house was "ok". Very weird house. Mom's bedroom would have been smaller than the one she has here at our current home. But oddly the master bedroom was almost the size of 1/2 of our current home. The architect of that home must have been smoking something when he drew that one up!
The second home was wonderful. It had a nice size entry with a living area Mom can use as her sitting room. A nice sized bedroom and full bath downstairs for Mom... A very large utility room too! One of my "wishes" was a gas range and bingo, gas range! The bedrooms upstairs were plenty large and had a nice media/gameroom for TV watching and toddler playing. The house has a great layout. If Mom wants her privacy, she can almost have the whole downstairs to herself!
The third house was new construction. We basically walked in, said it was "nice", and walked back out...
So, we put in an offer on the 2nd house and BAM!, they accepted it. Got it inspected on Friday and it was a very, very clean inspection report.
Looks like we have a house, folks. We close on 11/12 and begin moving from one to the other. It will be a bit hectic. We are used to having places overlap in time so we could move out of one somewhat gradually to another. Unfortunately we have to be completely out of this one when we head to the title company to close on this house and then drive to the other title company to close on the new house and get the key... So guess our stuff, Mom, toddler, and 3 dogs will be holed up in a moving van, waiting for a key. Yuck. Maybe we can talk the buyer into giving us a couple of hours overlap. Anything would be helpful...
There you go... That's our latest update.
